Description

Delicious hand pies filled with savory ground beef or lamb and mushrooms, perfect for a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef or lamb
  • 1 cup mushrooms, diced
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or lamb and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Toss in the diced mushrooms, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir until the mushrooms are cooked down and all ingredients are well combined, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
  5. Roll out the pie crusts and cut them into circles (about 4-6 inches in diameter).
  6. Place a heaping spoonful of the meat and mushroom filling onto one half of each circle.
  7. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges together with a fork to seal tightly.
  8. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the mixture over the tops of the hand pies.
  9. Place the hand pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 25-30 minutes or until they’re beautifully golden brown.
  10. Let the hand pies cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce or topping!
