Description
Delicious cocoa cookies with a hint of spice and chocolate chips.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy—about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips gently until evenly distributed.
- Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers still look slightly soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, dust the cookies with powdered sugar for decoration.
Notes
- Make sure the butter is softened, not melted.
- For added spice, the cayenne pepper is optional.
- Dust with powdered sugar for an extra special touch.
