Description

These cheesy pizza dough balls are perfect as an appetizer or snack, served warm with marinara or pesto for dipping!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package Refrigerator Pizza Dough
  • 30 sticks Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Basil
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce or Pesto

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface. Cut it into 30 equal squares.
  3. Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks into 30 pieces, about 1-inch each.
  4. Place a piece of cheese in the center of each dough square. Roll the dough to form balls.
  5. Arrange the dough balls on the baking sheet in a Christmas tree shape.
  6. Whisk together the egg and a splash of water for the egg wash. Brush over each dough ball.
  7. Bake for 16-18 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Microwave butter until melted. Stir in grated garlic and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  9. Brush garlic herb butter over the baked bread and sprinkle remaining Parmesan on top.
  10. Serve warm with marinara or pesto for dipping.

Notes

  • Homemade dough can be used as a substitute for refrigerator pizza dough.
  • Mozzarella pearls can be a good alternative to cheese sticks.
  • For a lighter option, olive oil can be used instead of butter.
  • Dried parsley, rosemary, or basil can be substituted in place of fresh herbs, but use less.
  • Garlic powder can be used instead of fresh garlic if necessary.
