Description

This is a simple recipe for making perfect hard boiled eggs.


Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • Water to cover eggs by 1 inch
  • 2 cups ice

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan.
  2. Cover with cold water until eggs are submerged by at least 1 inch.
  3. Bring water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Once boiling, immediately turn off the heat and cover the pot.
  5. Let eggs sit in the hot water for 10 to 12 minutes, depending on desired yolk texture.
  6. Transfer eggs to an ice bath and let sit for at least 5 minutes.
  7. Gently crack and peel eggs under running water.
  8. Enjoy or store in the fridge.

Notes

  • For softer yolks, reduce the sitting time in hot water to 10 minutes.
  • For firmer yolks, increase the time to 12 minutes.
