Description

Delicious and tender cube steaks cooked in a flavorful mushroom broth.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cube steaks
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 can (10 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tablespoons water (for slurry, optional)

Instructions

  1. Place half the sliced onions in the bottom of the crock pot.
  2. Layer the cube steaks on top, with remaining onions in between if needed.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, onion soup mix, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  4. Pour the mixture evenly over the cube steaks and onions.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or on HIGH for 4 hours.
  6. If a thicker gravy is desired, mix cornstarch with cold water and stir into the crock pot 15 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles, and enjoy!
